Salesforce adds telemedicine plug-in to Health Cloud

Salesforce is introducing a telemedicine feature for its Salesforce Health Cloud service. The CRM leader expects that with the debut of telehealth capabilities in Health Cloud, it can tremendously disrupt the field of patient engagement.

The telemedicine system will enable two-way video chat (home-grown video chats called Salesforce SOS) and screen sharing capabilities. These video chats were initially designed for the core Service Cloud platform. Now, this will be offered in Health Cloud for a monthly cost of $150 per user. With the video chat facility, patients can connect face-to-face with their care givers using any Apple iOS or Android mobile device.

Advantages of telemedicine

Introduction of telemedicine will empower the healthcare providers to offer more convenient, on-time, personal and contextual care that will ultimately increase the patient satisfaction and lead to speedy recovery. The video chat will get logged into the patient “timeline”. The SOS is seen by Salesforce as a suitable medium to prepare patients prior to their surgical procedures, and for the caregivers, it should turn useful for risk-based reimbursement models.

The Health Cloud has been well accepted by the market since its introduction last September. Dr. Joshua Newman, General Manager of Salesforce Healthcare and Life Sciences says that addition of telemedicine system will be the first major update since the launch of Health Cloud.

Salesforce is also not denying the possibilities of using telemedicine for patient education, health coaching, and replacing nurse call centers. Let us expect that the CRM leader of Silicon Valley will offer more and more with Dreamforce 2016 approaching our doorsteps.
