Sparks fly off when the ball rolls on the HMT ground, and whistles blow for the massive sixes and fours. There is a big scream each time a stump is thrashed out or when bails fall off. Yes, cricket fever spreads among Suyatians once again! Suyati Cricket League Season 2 (SCL2) is on a roll now.
Here is a recount of the matches held on the first week of the season.

SCL Day 1 match: Dama Daredevils vs Kings XI Vinod

Booking their berth- Kings XI Vinod registers their first victory
Day 1 witnessed the domination of the Kings in a manner befitting their name! Kings XI had a resounding opening stand of Rohit and Basil who docked 50 runs in less than 4 overs forcing the Devils to play their trump cards, Darvi and Thaha. The Kings took advantage of loose bowling leading to a lot of extras and a daunting score of 128 for 7.

The Devils required 129 from 60 balls to win the game and started their innings in a promising manner. Giving their way to the Kings’ accurate bowling, the devils were under pressure at 87 for 3. The Kings stuck to the basics and sealed their first win in SCL2.

Nature overplayed with heavy showers and we had to postpone the 2nd match between Vincent Chargers and Mukund Super Kings.
But we had more fun with the next major hit of the season.
SCL Day 3 match- Mukund Super Kings vs. Kings XI Vinod
This time the venue saw the first femme titans’ clash – Archana & Ann vs. Anju & Priya. While, Archana showed her prowess with the ball, Anju replied to her with the bat hitting a huge six!

But the last laugh belonged to Archana & Ann, who crossed the target easily to seal the victory.
Kings XI were full of confidence from their convincing victory from the SCL opening match, but the Kings’ royal tryst was disrupted when the lions (Mukund Super Kings) roared.
Praveen, Kings XI captain won the toss and chose to field first – confident, no doubt by the strong bowling arsenal at his disposal. But Mukund Super Kings showed us a Lion’s day out!

Hats off to Rifaj who belied the hopes of Kings XI. He punished the bad bowling and hit his first 50 of this season- 63 from 23 balls, with 6 sixes and 5 fours.
Lions fortified their side well with good bat and ball show and beat the Kings on a 4 run margin.
