Suyati CSR Initiative – HMT Government Primary School gets a colourful makeover!
We decided to give a facelift to the HMT Government Primary School at Kalamassery. But the first step? Getting the approvals out of the way! After sorting out paperwork and approvals, including written permissions from the Municipality, the School management, and the Head Mistress, Abilash Balan, our marketing manager, got the approval to repaint the primary section.
Time to get the ball rolling. A contractor was commissioned, the necessary materials were purchased, the date was set, and we were all geared up. Given that we were painting the primary section classrooms, we decided to go with a kids’ theme and our Creative Thinker Dipu, came up with suitable designs based on cartoons and other colourful imagery which would appeal to children.
Here are a few of them.
On 28th May, a team of Suyatians, along with the contractor and his workmen, headed to the HMT Government School. While some of us were overseeing the workers do their job, some others interacted with the kids, talking to them, playing games, clicking pics to document the smiles that seemed to bloom in abundance around us. On 1st June, the building was officially inaugurated by MLA Mr. V. K. Ebrahim Kunju.
Watch the video we created to document our activity in the school.
While we left the school premises, we were beaming ear to ear, courtesy the joy we saw on the children’s faces when they walked into the classrooms. The CSR team is grateful for the support extended to them by the management and teachers of the school, and to the children for giving us an opportunity to make a difference, even if it was just a few cans of paint.
